Role Overview

The Investor Relations group is the main point of contact for AOFM with investors in Australian Government Securities (AGS). It maintains ongoing engagement with banks that act as intermediaries in the AGS market, together with investors within Australia and across the world. Effective communication of relevant market information, Australian economic matters, and AGS products will require placing these in the context of global financial markets. This is achieved by group staff conducting market research and analysis, highlighting qualitative and quantitative insights. As work in this group is liaison-focused, it requires good relationship management skills.

The Analyst – Investor Relations will be involved in sourcing, analysing, and updating information used for presentations and other engagements with AGS investors and external stakeholders. This will require a solid knowledge and understanding of the AOFM’s debt products, financial markets, budget processes, and economic matters. The incumbent will conduct routine contact with investors through reports and programmatic updates. The Analyst will also support colleagues in client meetings and develop personal networks relevant to AOFM’s business.

Analysts are responsible for determining their work priorities subject to guidance by their manager and for monitoring workflow in their areas of responsibility.

Key Activities

The work of the Analyst – Investor Relations will vary depending on group priorities and project deliverables.  It is expected that key activities may include:

  • Maintain a current understanding of AGS products and the associated market dynamics.
  • Monitor domestic and international developments in financial markets.
  • Prepare reports that enhance the AOFM’s market reputation and that address investor information needs.
  • Work with the other Group members and the Communications Manager to support corporate objectives.
  • Organise meetings with AGS investors and intermediaries; providing secretariat support as required.
  • Establish and maintain relevant networks with market participants.
