Commonwealth Child Safe Framework Annual Statement of Compliance

AOFM is committed to promoting and maintaining a culture that provides a safe environment for children and young people.

In accordance with the Commonwealth Child Safe Framework and as part of our commitment to child safety, AOFM has undertaken the annual child safety risk assessment in relation to its activities.

AOFM’s core activities are sovereign debt management, management of the Australian Government’s cash balances and investment in low-risk financial assets. The AOFM has no direct interaction with children during our regular business activities. However, AOFM staff might have indirect contact with children during social or community events, during domestic and international travel and through our suppliers.

These risks are managed through security clearances for all AOFM staff, including criminal history screening through the National Police Checking Service as part of pre-assessment security checks. Staff and family members travelling overseas undertake necessary assessments and briefings prior to travels, and arrangements are put in place to manage their ongoing health and safety for the duration of travel. While suppliers are covered by terms and conditions in the Commonwealth Contracting Suite.

Given the nature of contact and these management actions, AOFM has assessed the risk to child safety as Low.

In 2024-25 the AOFM reviewed our organisational policies to support child safety for staff and family members deployed overseas.

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, in 2025-26 AOFM will:

  • Implement education initiatives to raise employee awareness of the requirements of the Commonwealth Child Safe Framework, including the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations

  • Review new organisational activities for potential child safety risks and implement any identified control measures.
